IRISSYS® is a software system based on a configurable client-server-model. So it is possible to execute time consuming tasks on the server and transmit just the results to the client via internet or a network connection. Furthermore, it is assured that several users can use and analyse the same data.
On the lowest level, the data is stored in a so called generic database. It saves numerous objects in different structures. The connection of additional data sources is another advantage of IRISSYS® to grant access to existing data sources without duplication.
The complex domain model of IRISSYS® allows the connection of different server types according to the customer's needs.
The following server types are available:
- IRISSYS® - Primary server
- IRISSYS® - Secondary server
- IRISSYS® - Backup server
- IRISSYS® - Cache server
The main task of the functional detachment in several server types is an efficient distribution of data storage and calculation demands.
Through the use of secondary servers, stored data could be handled separately appropriate to regional or organisational requirements. The common data stock is created on the primary server. It is distributed through the deployment of secondary servers. If the common data stock is changed, updates between primary and secondary servers will be possible. Apart from the mirrored data stock, a secondary server can also possess its own databases independent of the primary server. Only the clients of this particular secondary server have access to these databases.
A gain of mobility is accomplished by so called backup servers which allow to gather data without a permanent connection to any super ordinate server. Through data synchronisation this data can be published to the entire system for further analyses.
The cache server adjusts different baud rates between the clients and the server. For this purpose a cache server is set-up between a primary or secondary server and the clients. The databases of the cache server buffer the exchanged data, so it has not to be reloaded for every transaction from the super ordinate server.
Application architecture
The software family IRISSYS® includes the following members:
DALY (Data Analyser)
The application DALY is dedicated to data evaluation and presentation. It provides a huge amount of comfortable configuration and selection tools to the user. Additionally, there are a lot of possibilities to export data in common data formats. System-wide, area-wide and individual configurations, algorithms and filters can be used to evaluate data. Results are displayable as 2-D diagrams, 3-D views (e.g. switches), maps or reports.
UDX (Universal Data Exchange)
The application UDX includes an interface designer, data edit tools and import/export modules. UDX represents an universal interface which allows to import data of different formats into the system. The output formats are just as flexible. No changes to the applications are necessary. Interfaces can be adapted through configuration.
OM (Object Manager)
The application OM is used to configure the entire system. This task contains the administration of system objects like data types, measurement units, functions (e.g. analytical methods), reports or data views.
DBM (Database Manager)
The application DBM is responsible for the data management. It provides methods to create and configure the IRISSYS® database system including the connection of external databases. Basic operations like copy, move, delete or backup data can be performed with DBM, too.
AM (Account Manager)
The application AM manages the access authorisations concerning applications, IRISSYS®-objects, functions, configurations and data down to single attributes of a data type. So you may configure user access rights according to geographical, chronological and technical responsibilities and skills. Beyond that, observation, suspension and release of clients (applications) is possible. All these features of AM allow the cooperation of different companies at one time.
